Scholarships and Grants

We are committed to funding merit and need-based scholarships each semester. Students from ESC Affiliate Partners are most likely eligible to receive grant funds. Our Ambassador Award Program provides an additional opportunity for all students to receive financial support.

Scholarship Application Deadlines:
Spring = October 1 *2020 Deadline Extended: October 15              Fall = April 1

Scholarship application deadlines are evaluated independently of program application deadlines and are not influenced by individual program application deadline extensions.


Students who apply directly through the ESC Heidelberg and pay the published program fees are eligible to be awarded ESC Heidelberg scholarships and grants.

Awards may vary depending on the scholarship fund, number of awardees, and selection criteria as stated on this application. The committee is not obligated to award any funds.

Global Ambassador Scholarship

The European Study Center is offering five $1,000 scholarships for semester students who qualify.

To be considered for this scholarship, you will need to provide the following information as part of your online application process:

  • Proof of a minimum 3.0 GPA (current official transcript)
  • Signed and completed payment deferral request form
  • Resume
  • Personal essay – should answer the following questions in 400-500 words:
    • Describe how a personal experience or person in your life has motivated you
      to study abroad in a foreign country?
    • What are your expectations while abroad?
    • How do you think or hope your study abroad experience will affect your life
      once you return home?

Affiliate Grant

Students from affiliate partner universities may be eligible to receive an affiliate grant of $300 for either semester program or $150 for summer. Please check with your study abroad advisor for further information.

“GO AGAIN” Grant for CEPA faculty-led students

Students who have been on a faculty-program with CEPA automatically qualify for a $500 grant to study abroad for a full semester. The “GO AGAIN” Grant is awarded by CEPA Foundation. Additional funds are available through CEPA Foundation for students who qualify.

Additional Financial Support

All students:
We encourage eligible students to apply for the Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship. The scholarship provides awards for U.S. citizens who are receiving Federal Pell Grant funding at a four-year college or university to participate in study abroad programs worldwide. Award amounts are up to $5,000 per semester.
