The program fee includes the following:

  • Up to 15 US credits per semester
  • Official transcripts from the University of the Incarnate Word and the SRH University Heidelberg


Students will live in double occupancy rooms with shared bathrooms and cooking facilities at the ESC or in shared apartments nearby. Free use of campus facilities at the ESC – classrooms, student lounge, a computer lab, wi-fi access throughout the facility, a library, a TV room, and laundry facilities. Recreational facilities are located on the premises and nearby.

Orientation program and support from the on-site team

The orientation program takes place over several days and includes the following activities:

  • Tour of the ESC facilities (to learn where everything in the house is located, where to find staff members, and how to get in the house after hours.)
  • Tour of the neighborhood (to learn how to get to the local shopping area which includes a grocery store, bakery, pharmacy, an ATM, and a few reasonably priced restaurants.)
  • Tour of downtown Heidelberg (to learn how the public transportation works, where to get tickets, etc.)
  • The on-site team will provide you with personal support before, during, and after the program


  • Welcome reception and group dinner
  • Various group meals during cultural activities
  • Special holiday group meal, depending on the season
  • Farewell group dinner


  • Transportation from and to Frankfurt International Airport (FRA) upon arrival and departure
  • All ground transfers for the official activities and excursions included in the program

Health and Safety

  • Personal support and assistance from the on-site team in Heidelberg for health and safety issues

Signature events for semester students

  • Participation in the “Castle Talks” international symposium
  • International Career Seminar
  • Service learning opportunities at local organizations during the semester

2-day excursion to Strasbourg, France:

  • A visit to the European Parliament
  • A visit to the Council of Europe
  • A visit to the European Court of Human Rights

3-day weekend excursion to Berlin, Germany:

  • Guided tour of the Reichstag (German parliament)
  • Admission tickets to the Wall Museum at Checkpoint Charlie
  • Admission tickets to the Jewish Museum
  • and more

Day excursion to Frankfurt, Germany:

  • A visit to the German Central Bank
  • A visit to the German Stock Exchange

Multiple excursions in and around Heidelberg to visit castles, historical cities, museums, etc.

What is not included in the program fee:

  • Meals not listed
  • Round trip airfare or excess baggage charges
  • Housing costs before or after the program dates
  • Non-excursion personal transportation
  • Visa and passport expenses
  • Room deposits (refundable)
  • Personal and misc. expenses
